Origins
Contemaso grows from south facing vineyards at a 280m height a.s.l , laid between the river Orcia and Mount Amiata.
The chalkky and clayey soil is rich in minerals which contribute to the wine’s peculiar bouquet. Its main components of Sangiovese grapes is skilfully blended with Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot.
The vineyards, planted in 2004, have a density of 5000 plants per hectare, grown in spurred cordon
Alessandro Tognozzi Moreni now leads the maternal family farm, taking care of the land with the same passion and dedication of his grandfather Tommaso before him. The philosophy of his production rests on an attention to the morphology of the territory, to the nature surrounding it, as well as to its secularly traditions.
For these reasons, the yield per hectare of its vineyards is limited to 40 q. Aged in oak Barrique and oak tonneaux for the first fifteen months, and later in bottle, the colours, smells and taste it releases are authentically bounded to its land, and to a sophisticated artisanal workmanship.
Contemaso evokes a lifestyle passed down from generation to generation. A wine which offers a refined and complex sensorial experience.
